After completing his graduation (B.Sc.) from St. Xavier’s College Mumbai, Prof. Sylvester D’Mello has done his Master’s in Management Studies (M.M.S.) from Welingkar Institute of Management. Successfully completing a residential Course in Logistics at the prestigious Georgia Institute of Technology at Atlanta in the US, adds to his list of other qualifications like IATA/FIATA Course from IATA, Montreal, Canada & going through a ‘Best Distribution Practices Program’ at DANZAS (now part of DHL) at Munich, Germany. Prof. Sylvester is also a guest lecture invitee at Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Logistics forums. His learnings at SUN MICROSYSTEMS, Singapore on RFID Technology holds him in good stead within the logistics industry.
Having spent 38 years in the Corporate World, he is a true ‘Professor of Practice’. He has a trail of senior assignments with reputed companies like CROMPTON GREAVES, FedEx, DHL, TATA, MAHINDRA, KUENE + NAGEL, SODEXO & VANGUARD LOGISTICS to name a few. In the recent past, Prof. Sylvester has mostly been part of an Asia Pacific Leadership team in companies like DHL SUPPLY CHAIN ( Asst. Vice President – IT & Hi Tech), KUENE + NAGEL(General Manager – Logistics), SODEXO( Director, Business Development, India), VANGUARD LOGISTICS ( Head- Operations, Indian Sub-Continent) & Lead, Operations Excellence- South West Asia.7
Prof. Sylvester has been instrumental in designing Integrated End to End Supply Chain Solutions which has facilitated the entry of various MNC’s into India. To name a few, starting with MacDonald’s in 1997, Hewlett Packard, Herbalife, KOHLER, Amazon Kindle, Abbott Laboratories (US), Starbucks & UNIQLO have been some of his key customer acquisitions.
An extensively travelled professional in Supply Chain, Prof. Sylvester has worked on designing Logistics Solutions at overseas projects like TATA MOTORS, Thonburi, Thailand, TATA MOTORS, Balaraja, Indonesia, MAHINDRA YANCHENG YUEDA TRACTORS LIMITED, Yancheng, China(Distribution design for Mainland China up to Inner Mongolia) etc.
Having come on board this July, Prof. Sylvester currently engages with MMS students on subjects of Operations & General Management.
